We have been waiting for soccer to arrive in this country for decades. However, I don’t think anyone wanted the hooliganism to arrive with it. At first a part of me was weirdly proud of this because at least it shows there are diehard fans in MLS. The more I thought about it though, the more ashamed I was for even having that thought for a second. Fighting doesn’t make you a hardcore fan. It makes you an asshole. Hooliganism ruins the game of soccer because it makes rooting for your team become a matter of life and death. No matter what anyone says soccer is still just a game and you shouldn’t have to risk your safety to play it. These fans should be ashamed.
