Martin Odegaard Becomes Youngest Player Ever To Play In European Qualifier

A little while ago we put up Martin Odegaard as one of our “Compilation Friday’s” and he has continued to soar beyond his already infamous YouTube popularity. According to ESPN FC Martin’s recent accomplishments include,

[He is] the he youngest player to appear in Norway’s top flight, the Tippeligaen, for his club, Stromsgodset; the youngest player to represent his nation at senior level; and, as of Norway’s 2-1 win against Bulgaria on Monday, the youngest player to take to the field in a competitive European championship qualifier. He is still 64 days shy of his 16th birthday.

The ESPN FC article hyperlinked to above then goes into a very intellectual article about how the weight of expectation currently on the shoulders of Martin Odegaard could end up ruining him like it has to so many athletes before him if his career is not handled properly. Thankfully, the article points out that Martin has a good support structure behind him who are weighing up each opportunity on what is best for his career rather than looking for whichever opportunity gets them the quickest buck. Whether he becomes the “next Leo Messi” or not though he will always have this accomplishment to look back on.
