In the months leading up to the 2014 World Cup ESPN has announced a project called “30 for 30: Soccer Stories.” This project will include 2 feature-length docs, six 30-minute films and 10 Brazilian-themes vignettes. One of the feature length documentaries will be about the Hillsborough Disaster which I have always felt deserved a 30 for 30 documentary. Granted I am a Liverpool fan but I think every soccer fan should know more about this tragedy and the resulting fall-out that has continued to this day about what went wrong there that day. There’s also going to be a Maradona documentary along with one on Ossie Ardiles who was the popular Argentine player who played for Tottenham during the Falkland Island crisis. Head to the site linked below to see the other documentaries that ESPN has planned. It’s about time ESPN made more soccer documentaries as The Two Escobars was one of the best 30 for 30’s in the series so far.
